Start the year with a wholesome family entertainer ‘EK THA GADHA’ written by Shard Joshi, a thought provoking play based on politics.
The play centers around the ‘NAWAB’ who intends to become popular abd famous using short-cut methods like any dictator. Sharad Joshi has drawn on his vast expwrience as a newspaper columnist to skillfully highlight the quagmire of politics where an individual is reduced to a memre statistical number.
The ‘NAWAB’ in this play is supported by his so called ‘well -wishers’ who sing in his praise, though not always.
The town is awakened by the cries of ‘Juggan Dhobi’ (a washerman) who mourns the death of his dear ‘Aladad Khan’. Taking this opportunity the ‘Nawab’ hits on a plan to gain popularity. He declares a state mourning for ‘Aladad Khan’, a commoner. What follows is not only a comedy of errors but also reflects on the present day political scene.
